Zinc-clad New Build
Westleton, Suffolk
This contemporary new-build home in Westleton was designed by multi-award-winning architect Brian Haward as a high-specification dwelling suited to modern living. The design combines clean architectural lines with a carefully considered palette of natural materials, allowing the building to sit comfortably within its rural Suffolk setting.
Externally, the house is defined by a striking combination of natural zinc cladding and Siberian larch, creating a contemporary interpretation of traditional rural forms. Large areas of glazing and glazed balustrading introduce light into the interior while framing views of the surrounding landscape.
Inside, the house features a series of bespoke joinery elements that give the interior a refined and highly crafted character. The layout has been designed to create bright, open living spaces while maintaining a strong connection between the house and its outdoor environment.
Environmental performance was an important part of the design. The house incorporates a range of eco features, including a green roof, solar water heating, and an air-source heat pump, helping to reduce energy consumption while maintaining comfortable living conditions throughout the year.
